Oppenheimer dominated the Oscars, winning big, and Cillian Murphy took home the best actor award.

Cillian Murphy just made history by snagging the best actor award at the Oscars, becoming the first-ever Irish-born winner. And to top it off, Oppenheimer completely owned the night, sweeping through the Oscars like a cinematic hurricane.

Oh, what a shocker! Cillian Murphy has bagged the best actor award, making him the first Irish-born winner. It’s almost like the Oscars had a sudden epiphany that Irish actors can actually act. Oppenheimer, the film that practically took over the ceremony like an atomic explosion, won best picture, best director for Christopher Nolan (because he hasn’t won enough already), and even graced Robert Downey Jr. with a best supporting actor award. Because, you know, we’ve all been anxiously waiting to see Iron Man receive the coveted golden statue.

In his acceptance speech, Murphy, with a twinkle in his eye, thanked everyone involved in the “wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey.” Oh, the creativity of making yet another film about the creation of the atomic bomb. How original. And let’s not forget Downey Jr., who humorously thanked his “terrible childhood” before reminding us all that what they do is “meaningful” and what they decide to make is “important.” Yes, because we were all desperately waiting for another bomb-related film to enlighten us on the significance of Hollywood’s decisions.

But fear not, Oppenheimer didn’t sweep every category, leaving room for the steampunk drama, Poor Things, to shine. Emma Stone took home best actress for her role in a film about an infant’s brain implanted into an adult woman’s body. How heartwarming! Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes about the length of the nominated films and a surprise appearance by a “disorientated-looking” Al Pacino added just the right touch of entertainment to an otherwise predictable evening of self-congratulation in Hollywood.
