If you look at the painting, the younger ones surely don’t look like being young, judging by today’s standards. So here are the Founding Fathers and how old they were at the declaration of Independence.
- George Washington – Born on February 22, 1732, he was 44 years old when the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.
- Thomas Jefferson – Born on April 13, 1743, he was 33 years old when the Declaration was signed.
- Benjamin Franklin – Born on January 17, 1706, he was 70 years old at the time.
- John Adams – Born on October 30, 1735, he was 40 years old in 1776.
- Alexander Hamilton – Born on January 11, 1755, he was just 21 years old when the Declaration of Independence was signed.
- John Jay – Born on December 12, 1745, he was 30 years old.
- James Madison – Born on March 16, 1751, he was 25 years old.
