Hollywood walk of Fame. The 10 Things..

Let’s talk about the famous, Hollywood walk of Fame. The 10 Things..

1. Inception (1950s): The idea for the Hollywood Walk of Fame began in the 1950s as a way to honor celebrities from the entertainment industry. The original proposal was initiated by E. M. Stuart, a volunteer president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and its goal was to maintain the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.

2. First Star (1960): The official groundbreaking for the Walk of Fame was on February 8, 1960. The first star, that of actor Stanley Kramer, was laid on March 28, 1960.

3. Early Honorees: In the early years, the Walk of Fame primarily recognized movie stars. However, over time, it expanded to include notable figures from television, music, radio, and other areas of the entertainment industry.

4. Categories: The stars are categorized into five fields: Motion Pictures, Television, Music, Radio, and Live Theatre/Performance.

6. Ceremonies: The dedication ceremonies for the stars are public events and often attended by fans, fellow celebrities, and the media. Celebrities are typically presented with a certificate and often use the occasion to promote their latest projects.

7. Growth: The Walk of Fame has continued to expand over the years, with new stars added regularly. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there are over 2,600 brass stars embedded in the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street.

8. Iconic Location: The Walk of Fame covers fifteen blocks along Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks on Vine Street, making it one of the most visited attractions in the world.

9. Cultural Significance: It’s become a symbol of the entertainment industry and a must-visit site for tourists and fans of celebrities.

10. Repairs and Maintenance: To keep the stars in good condition, they undergo periodic cleaning and maintenance.
